Florence Henderson called seeing everyone all grown up on A Very Brady Christmas ''strange''

Much like many families who only come back together during the holiday season, it can feel a little strange to see people you haven't spoken to in a while, even if they are your siblings.

This was the case for Florence Henderson, who had plenty of experience with her onscreen family after starring in The Brady Bunch for five seasons, followed by The Brady Bunch Hour for an additional season.

But this time, when the Brady family reunited, the siblings were all grown up, creating a whole new dynamic for America's favorite family.

The fictional family came back together for A Very Brady Christmas, a holiday special that aired on ABC in 1988. While the Bradys reunited for the holidays, families across the country gathered to watch this iconic Christmas story about "a lovely lady and a man named Brady."

According to a 1988 interview with the Arizona Daily Sun, Henderson said it was "a little strange" to see her former onscreen family all grown up.

"It felt strange to go back to the roles," Henderson said. "Robert and I were very nervous trying to get back into those characters. The kids are all grown. That's going to be quite a shock to all those kids who watch reruns."

In addition to Henderson returning to play her iconic character, Carol Brady, Robert Reed, Ann B. Davis, Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb, Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, and Mike Lookinland also reunited for this big family gathering.

Only Susan Olsen did not return; she was replaced by Jennifer Runyon, who played Cindy Brady. According to Henderson, there were also a few other changes to the Brady family.

"The house has been redecorated," Henderson said. "I'm into real estate now. Mike's still an architect. One son's a doctor, one's a race car driver, and one works in an office. Plus, there are three grandchildren. Can you believe that?"

The original Brady Bunch series ran from 1969 to 1974, leaving a lasting impact on both television and pop culture. The Brady family became one of the most recognizable and iconic models of the “perfect family.”

After her time as Carol Brady, Florence Henderson set the record for the most guest appearances on The Love Boat, appeared as a suspect in Murder, She Wrote, and took on a variety of other projects. But nothing ever reached Brady status.

"I guess it's because they're a family that gets along and works out its problems," Henderson said. "I think people get some help from it. I know when I was a child, seeing movie musicals saved my life. I was the youngest of 10 and we were poor. I could go to the theater and forget my childhood problems. It gives people something to strive for."
